STOCKTON — Financial Center Credit Union’s newest branch, located on Stockton’s southside, is officially open.

The branch at 2405 S. Airport Way opened July 2 and offers a full range of service to residents in southside neighborhoods. The credit union said it is a “trusted alternative to the check cashers and predatory lenders that have moved into the southside.”

“We know this branch will benefit our members, as well as bring value to the South Stockton neighborhood and greater community,” said Financial Center’s President and CEO Michael Duffy.

The new branch was five years in the making, beginning with the search for the right location. It was built at a cost of $2 million. It is only the second financial on Stockton’s southside, but in March Duffy told the Business Journal the southside was home to hundreds of its current customers.

“We have over 3,000 members who live there so we have a built-in market that can sustain that location,” he said. “We think there are a number of people that may join when they have a convenient option close to them.”
